We honor Irene for her years of service to the education profession and for her dedication to all children of the Burleson community. The Board of Trustees respectfully places her name on Burleson’s newest elementary campus seeking to inspire others to touch the lives of children as she so faithfully did throughout her career.
After teaching Vacation Bible School for several years, Irene Clinkscale was encouraged to open her own private school for young children. Mrs. Clinkscale’s Kindergarten opened in 1960 at her home and was the first learning experience for Burleson children when kindergarten was not part of the Burleson School District program. The school, also known as The Little School House and Happy Hours, expanded and served the needs of the community for many decades. Because of her love for children and her passion for establishing a firm foundation during the early years, we proudly dedicate this structure in her honor.
