The Burleson Independent School District will be accepting referrals
for testing for gifted and talented services January 8-January 26,
2018. Gifted & Talented Services are designed to serve the unique
educational needs of academically gifted students. These students
perform or have the potential to perform at a remarkably high level,
beyond the performance of their peers. Approximately 3-5% of the
population is gifted.
Any student in grades 2-11 is eligible for referral. However, only students who
meet the district’s requirements will qualify for services.
The deadline for submitting referral paperwork is January 26, 2018. Students
who are referred will be pulled from class several times for testing during late
February/early March. Tests will be scored during April and May, and the
campus GT committees will meet to analyze data and determine whether or not
the student meets BISD guidelines for receiving GT services. Parents will be
notified through the mail of their child’s qualification status the week after school
is out for summer. Students who qualify will begin receiving services during the
2018-2019 school year.
Paperwork is posted on the district website. Printed copies will be available in the Clinkscale front office.
